UK Digital Market Overview 2015

According to the Tech City large scale digital survey, 15% of companies in the UK are digital, with an increase of 53% in 2013 compared to 2010. Digital companies’ revenue growth is faster than the average ratio of business growth across the economy, with a total turnover rise of 6% between 2006-2013, with 56% of companies seeing revenues rise last year and 90% predicting continued revenue growth by the end of 2015.

Employment

UK wide there are 1.46 million digital jobs, with the largest majority in inner London (228,572), with 45,000 digital jobs currently being advertised. The percentage of digital job growth is higher than that of all other job occupations combined. The largest sectors are advertising and marketing and media and entertainment (11%).

Access to Talent

One third of Tech City’s respondents said that local talent is the biggest barrier to their growth, and in 2014 this was reflected by the government’s £18.4 million investment in tech partnership.

Marketing and Advertising

According to the survey, Advertising and Marketing agencies said revenues growth was 72% last year, with 33% saying revenue grew more than 25%.

According to the survey, 53% of Media and Entertainment companies said revenue grew last year, with 25% saying revenue grew more than 25%.
