The Rio 2016 Olympic Games have come to an end, but the memories of the brilliant achievements made over the last 16 days will live on. We have been completely obsessed with all things Olympics here at Impact and what a spectacle it has provided. The Olympic Games has been sensational for Team GB proving that we really are ‘Great’ in every sense! In fact, our country ended the games with 67 medals, finishing second in the medal table and delivering Great Britain’s best performance at an Olympic Games for more than a century.

During the games we’ve certainly had some notable firsts including Jack Laugher and Chris Mears who claimed Team GB’s first ever diving gold and a first gold medal in men’s gymnastics thanks to Max Whitlock! We’ve also been amazed by some of our Olympic heroes living their dreams along with them. Track cyclist Jason Kenny was the most successful Briton in Rio winning three golds to take his tally to six, along with his fiancée Laura Trott who made history becoming GB’s most successful female Olympian! Mo Farah wowed us again by defending not one but both his titles and we were also blown away by 16-year-old gymnast Amy Tinkler who became Britain’s youngest medal winner since 1984.

Times like these it makes us realise why we really are proud to be British! Over the last couple of weeks we have cheered on our home nation who have certainly given their all, we have watched dreams being realised and champions made. Here’s to the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, may it be as triumphant and successful as it has been in Rio!
