I meant to write this blog piece over the weekend, but to be honest it’s taken until today to feel 100% again after what proved to be an incredibly fun ‘Founders Day’ here at Impact. This was our opportunity to come together as a business and take the time to reflect on how far we have come as a business since our beginnings in 2001. Most importantly to discuss our future growth plans and the role we as ‘Impactees’ will play in getting us there.
We have always been a firm believer that our USP is, has and will always be our people and this was truly celebrated on Friday. The day kicked off with breakfast delivered to the office followed by our now legendary weekly table quiz based on little known facts about our colleagues. I knew we were a unique bunch but who knew we had 2 x child actors, 1 x alpaca owner, 1 x rapper who almost made it to name but a few!
After lunch and drinks in Shoreditch’s Pizza East we returned and settled in for a presentation by Nick and Jules. I can safely say that everyone individually took something important away from it – whether it be the back story of how Nick and Jules came together, how they successfully and organically grew Impact through the early 00’s, their continuous commitment to investing in tech, our award winning CSR program promoting Diversity in the creative industries or their exciting 5 year growth plan.
For me it was the reiteration of how important our client and candidate relationships have always been. Impact was built with the straight forward, core principle that we should be an approachable and honest business that truly delivers great service. This approach saw the business fly in its founding years, kept them going in the difficult recession times and drove us to return to consistent growth in the following years to where we are today – 22 staff, 4 specialist divisions (with additional ones in the pipeline), a fantastic office in Shoreditch, and maybe even an international office on the horizon! We then kicked off the party at Swingers Golf which inevitably brought out our competitive side and we gave out some fun, tongue in cheek awards. The night went on from there but those are definitely stories for a different day!
